Tales of a Traveler: Book One: Hemlock (Time Travel Adventure Serial) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars – Customer Reviews

Not every ‘broken heart’ is truly broken… Some are just badly bruised.

Desperate to forget about her worthless ex-boyfriend for a while – not to mention their spectacularly cringe-worthy break-up! – Martha Bigalow sets out on a long hike hoping that the dramatic scenery of the English Lake District will work its magic and put a band-aid on her heart.

But as she’s crossing a swollen river using an ancient set of stepping stones, disaster strikes, and Martha falls into the angry water.

Time Travel. Sideways.

She wakes up in a cave and, even worse, she’s wearing nothing but her least favorite set of dodgy, mismatched underwear. Her only company is the strange man who saved her life. Tall, dark, and extremely handsome, Vadim definitely has the potential to help Martha forget. But this isn’t the twenty-first century, and medieval Erde is nothing like home!

Vadim is a wanted man. An outlaw.

The last thing his life needs are any complications of the female kind, but then he finds the strange young woman lying beside the river… Against his better judgment, and despite the warning in his heart, Vadim offers Martha his protection and vows to help her find her way home.

There’s just one teensy little snag…

If she wants Vadim’s help she’s going to have to pretend to be his wife!

Unfortunately, until she’s reunited with the twenty-first century again, Martha has no other option but to become Mrs. Vadim. And as if living the medieval dream wasn’t bad enough, now she’s having to avoid the evil Earl and his minions, too.

But with Vadim’s help, anything seems possible. Who knows? Given enough time, maybe – just maybe – she’ll even learn to trust her heart again.

(Polite warning! This book is NOT a standalone. Please steer clear if cliffy endings aren’t your thing!)

Editorial Reviews
“Bridget Jones meets Lord of the Rings.” -J. Salsbury. April 2014

“Martha is strong and smart and *modern*, but she’d thrust into a world that is anything but. The men in this book–the good and bad guys– are written so well, they just jump off the page.” – Amazon customer. April 2014

“You know that book you pick up on a whim in the airport book shop, and it ends up being so good you don’t want your plane to land? That’s the kind of book we’re talking about here. This is reading for the pure fun of it!” -JLB. April 2014

N.J. Layouni has been weaving stories all of her life–even before she could actually write. For many years, she was a dedicated ‘closet writer’, and as a result, the attic space of her home is stuffed to the rafters with piles of ageing manuscripts depicting fantastical romantic adventures, tales of daring sword-wielding heroes, and of strong, feisty damsels who aren’t too tough to accept a helping hand sometimes.

As well as being a mouthpiece for the various characters living inside her head, N.J. is a wife, and mother of two children. She lives in Lancashire, UK. When she’s not writing, she can usually be found on one of her regular online hangouts:
